DNS (Domain Name System) is a set of records that connect your domain to various services.
There are various types of records, such as A, CNAME, MX, and TXT.
-
A Records connect to an IP address, such as our web hosting services, or a third-party site builder. (E.g. Shopify, SquareSpace, WIX)
-
CNAME Records use the DNS record of what they are pointing to. A common CNAME record is:
www.domainexpress.com.au (CONNECTS TO) domainexpress.com.au
-
MX Records tell what server the domain should send emails to. With our Email Hosting, your MX records will point to our servers.
-
TXT Records are records that provide context to the domain, such as verification for third-party services, or email verification and security. (E.g. SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
